Stabiae Archaeological Museum: Discover the Hidden Storerooms with the Pompeii Children’s Museum

The Stabiae Archaeological Museum opens the doors of its storerooms to the public, in collaboration with the Pompeii Children’s Museum. A unique opportunity to explore treasures that are usually kept out of sight, now accessible through exclusive guided tours.

The treasures of the Vesuvian area

Once mere storage spaces, these recently reorganised areas have been transformed into places of discovery and learning, showcasing the treasures of the Vesuvian region through an educational and interactive display.

Visitors, guided by expert educators, will have the chance to observe the work of archaeologists and conservators up close – from excavation to cataloguing and the preservation of artefacts.

The tour unfolds through thematic sections, culminating in a diverse collection of ceramics, unguentaria, tableware, and numerous ex-votos – objects that narrate the daily life of ancient Stabiae.

The archaeological museum’s initiative

This initiative is part of a broader enhancement project for the museum, which has been renewed and enriched with more than 500 artefacts, multimedia installations, and immersive technologies that highlight the connections between ancient and modern Stabiae.

It’s a valuable opportunity to delve into the history, landscapes, and domestic life of the Vesuvian area in a continuous dialogue between past and present.
